68th Annual Lummi Stommish Water Festival • June 12-22, 2014 • Lummi Nation • www.stommish.com

This year, the people of the Salish Sea will join in celebrating 68 years of the world famous Lummi Stommish Water Festival — June 12th – 22, 2014, on the Lummi Indian reservation near Bellingham, WA.  Stommish began back in 1946, when our World War II veterans were coming home — it was then that Lummi’s World War I veterans decided to gather in celebration of their safe return.  A Cowichan word meaning “warrior,” Stommish has become an international renowned gathering which includes — the “War Canoe races,” a “Sla-hal Bone Game” tournament, and an “Honoring All Veterans” Pow Wow.

Stommish is a multi-cultural contemporary Coast Salish gathering which includes fun and enjoyment for the whole family.  Stommish features:  Athletic events, traditional singing and dancing, a traditional Lummi-Style Salmon Barbeque, a Carnival and a Moonlight Concert series featuring Native comedians & local musicians all throughout the weekend.  Admission is Free and Stommish is open to the public.

We sincerely hope you come join our people of this land and this sea — and “Experience the Spirit of Stommish.”
