The jail that has failed twice in the ballot box is still under consideration. The Trifecta of Louws, Elfo and McCeachran still are working behind the scenes to make it happen. Right now three members of the county council are holding "listening sessions" in various locations throughout the county to hear what citizens have to say. I attended the ones in Lynden and Ferndale. No one, as yet, who attends is a proponent of a new jail , certainly not a mega one in Ferndale. There have been some really good ideas put forth and the council members would like to have proposals in writing. I plan to work with Mike Kaufman to do this. Stay tuned.
