Reports

  1. Read page 5 and 11 from REAL CHANGE newspaper. It has an insert on local information on HOMES NOW. This was brought to our attention by Marnell.
  2. Occupy ’s web site. Occupybellingham.org to register. This site is said to be safer than Facebook which has been having some troubles lately.
  3. League of Woman Voters Forum which some of us attended. The speaker is associated with the Southern Poverty Law Center. He talked about the difference between White Supremacy organizations like the KKK and White Nationalism which is trying to go main stream.  For updates on hate groups an app. called Trepper might be helpful.
  4. Books on the above subject that have been recommended are ON TRYANNY by Timothy Snyder and UNVEILING THE GREEN MASK.
  5. ON TYRANNY recommends: Lesson 2, Defend institutions, Beware of Privatizing those institutions like Zinke and Pruitt are trying to do. And Lesson 1 DO NOT Obey in advance like Trump is trying to do with his nominations.
  6. County Council: ORV (motorized off road vehicles on County owned property) is back. Ask: Attend County Council to fight back the ORV. WIC program privatization. Ask: letters and e-mail to stop this very bad idea.
  7. Snake in the Grass Alert: Tyler Bird. He wants a Jail, and he is a member of a local Alt-Right Organization called Four Corners.
  8. There have been four deaths of unhoused people in past month.
  9. Triage Center with 32 beds altogether at jail annex to treat folks with mental and drug problems is going to be built.

HOMESNOW STRATEGY

  1. The Light House is starting a mobile unit for showers.
  2. One may park on Bellingham streets from 7PM to 7AM.
  3. One storage locker prototype to be installed in downtown Bellingham for Homeless use. Hopefully more to be installed.
  4. Petitions?
  5. Get Pathway?
  6. The Company building the tiny homes is located at 3715 Iron Gate Rd.
  7. Since it is so difficult to get land to build these tiny homes in Bellingham, County land is being looked at seriously. Purchase the land.
  8. HomesNow has rented an office for $200.00 per month. They have permission to use the planters in place and will see above for the event date to help refurbishing and planting.
