The Skagit County Hearing Examiner is holding a public hearing on the proposed shoreline permit and variance for the Shell refinery’s oil-by-rail
facility, which would route six new oil trains per week through our local community. In addition to at least one hour per day of added traffic, these trains derail and spill huge quantities oil, putting our river, the Puget Sound, and our communities at risk.
Now is the time to speak out. Skagit County needs to hear from you.
Say no to exploding, dangerous oil trains!
The project is too dangerous. Adding six oil trains per week to aging and congested rail infrastructure puts our community at risk.  Skagit County should not move forward on any permits until there is a thorough environmental review, protections to prevent an explosion or spills from an oil train, assurances that there will be no more tanker traffic, and greater consideration of our community safety.

The hearing will address a proposed Shoreline Permit, the first permit for the proposed facility changes. Please RSVP if you plan on attending.

If you cannot attend, written comments on the shoreline permit are due January 27, 2015. Send to:
