This Thursday, May Day, OURWalmart and Making Change at Walmart invites you to join us at the upcoming informational picket of our local Skagit Valley Hospital workers as they continue to organize for their first contract after overwhelmingly voting to unionize in late 2012.

Please drop by any time between 1:30pm and 6pm to walk the picket line!  Details are below.

Local healthcare workers with Skagit Regional Health have been bargaining for a first contract since they successfully unionized in September 2012. Members have been strong and determined to get a fair contract. Unfortunately, management recently gave the bargaining team a Last Best and Final offer which has glaring omissions such as no wage scale and no protections of health care benefits.

Bargaining team members are justifiably insulted and have announced an informational picket at Skagit Regional Hospital on May Day.  Can you or others from your organizations join us for the picket on May 1st? It’s a long stretch of time but even if you can come for part of the action, it will reinforce the strong community support we have in the region for worker’s rights and good, union jobs.

SKAGIT REGIONAL HEALTH INFORMATIONAL PICKET

We know you’ve been with us in the past, many times, and are extremely grateful. Now is a critical time to send a message to Skagit Regional Health that we won’t allow them to disrespect our local healthcare workers and the bargaining process in this way. Healthy workers make for a healthy environment for our loved ones who need their care at one time or another, and as we advocate for workers we also advocate for quality patient care.

Carpool from Bellingham–Meet at 1:00 pm at 1700 N. State Street, Union Center.  We will join the informational picket line in Mt. Vernon and return to Bellingham by 4:00 pm.
