Sharon Kinley of the Coast Salish Institute of Northwest Indian College (NWIC) will be presenting on the Semiahmoo Project.  The project was conducted to restore the remains of Lummi ancestors, disturbed and taken form the site of the 1999 expansion of the Semiahmoo waste water treatment plant, back to the care and protection of Lummi Nation.  It took constant work over a 15 year period to complete this work.  Sharon’s talk and video demonstrate the sacredness of honoring the ancestors and is a huge aspect of the need to protect Cherry Point.

All are welcome to attend.

The presentation will provide one way of understanding the social, cultural and psychological impacts that Lummi will once again have to face if the proposed Gateway Pacific terminal is allowed to move forward.  Join with us as we journey to a place of deeper understanding and appreciation of Lummi Nation’s history and connection to the lands and waters and the devastating effects on heart, mind and soul that the present day threats to their territories pose.
