Students for Renewable Energy invite you to come learn more about he nationwide college movement to divest from fossil fuels at a panel on divestment this Thursday, March 7th in Academic West 204 (first floor).
Join students, faculty, and community members for a discussion about Western’s investments in fossil fuels and the pros and cons of seeking a socially responsible investment policy alternative.

This riveting and yet musical and wry award-winning documentary is about the legendary Earth First! and labor organizer Judi Bari. Judi Bari was car-bombed in Oakland in 1990 while on college tour with Cherney (the film’s producer) to save the redwoods. Despite receiving many death threats, the pair was instantly arrested by the FBI and Oakland Police for bombing themselves. They sued the authorities for violations of the constitution. The film is composed entirely of archival footage, including appearances by Bonnie Raitt, Woody Harrelson, Jerry Brown and David Grisman. Stricken by cancer after surviving the bombing, Bari narrates the film herself via her deathbed deposition for the trial she won’t live to see. Follow Bari and Cherney through the incredible array of rare footage as they battle to save not only the redwoods, but themselves, as well.

This “Big News Coming Soon” is going to be very interesting on it own merits. At the least, this is an interesting video and I have learned a bit from embedding the new video player it plays within.
My purpose in placing this video here is to stimulate a discussion about what goals and uses would be pursued as a consequence of a scientific find like “Dark Matter”.
Would World Peace be pursued first and foremost, with the goal of serving all of humanity in the name of the Common Good? Would the science be pursued with the idea of providing free and clean energy for our planetary home, or example?
Would Weaponization prove to be the first and foremost pursuit, Would the science be pursued with the idea of subjugating Enemies of the State? Would we see a replay of the first use of the fruit of the discovery of “Nuclear Fussion”, the terrorist attacks on the civilian populations of Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Would an Arms Race result as the Corporate Captains of Capitalism sought maximize profits in the Military Industrial Complex Sector?

We filled the 12 seat van we rented to reduce the carbon footprint and it was well worth the effort. Everyone had a good time. We helped make a large crowd. Everyone needs to understand that we have a class of Wall Street Criminals that brought on the collapse of the World economy by committing Wall Street Crimes.
By committing these crimes, this criminal class acquired billions in Profits acquired in the Commission of Crimes. Then they topped that off with billions acquired in Bailout Moneys swindled from Taxpayers with the Complicity of Government aka Too Big to Fail. With vast wealth acquired in this way, they subvert the Justice System by purchasing influence to acquire Legal Settlements that absolve them of their criminal liability. For sure, these Legal Settlements involve the payment of penalties. However, these penalties are paid with the fruit of criminal activity and taxpayer funding. So far, we are witnessing perfect crime.
In this video, Senator Elizabeth Warren asks a question of Bank Regulators about how many Trials the government has conducted to prosecute for the Wall Street Crimes that collapsed the US economy. Watch Tom Curry (Comptroller of the Currency) and Elisse Walter (SEC Executive Chairman) attempt to articulate a Too Big for Trial justification as their equivocating answers to Warren’s question – that answer being “No Trials have taken place”. It is incredible to watch them trying to justify their acceptance of Legal Settlements in lieu of proceeding with Criminal Prosecution in a Court of Law with this Too Big for Trial circumvention of the rule of law.
These Wall Street Criminals have insulated themselves from the “rule of law” that applies to ordinary citizens and ordinary business enterprises with power and influence wielded by vast wealth, ill-begotten. As a criminal class, they proceed to make themselves Too Big to Jail.
This video, from this morning’s (02/15/2012) Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee hearing, will alert anyone who sees it to the influence that is manifesting itself as Too Big for Trial.
